Physiological tremor in children.

چکیده

A rhythmic tremor at about 10 c./sec. is a wellknown feature of muscular contraction in healthy adults. In some subjects the amplitude of the tremor is such that it is discernible by the naked eye, while in others sensitive methods of recording are required for its detection. While studying this phenomenon Marshall and Walsh (1956) noticed that the tremor in six normal children was slower than that in adults. As this fact has important implications as to the mechanism of the tremor in both children and adults, a more extensive study of physiological tremor in children has been made and is reported here.

Minocycline Mitigation of Tremor Syndrome and Defect of Cognitive and Balance Induced by Harmaline

Introduction: Minocycline has anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and anti-oxidant effects. Preclinical data suggest that minocycline could be beneficial for treating common neurological disorders, including Parkinson disease and multiple sclerosis. Methods: In this study, the effects of minocycline on harmaline-induced motor and cognitive impairments were studied in male Wistar rats. The rats ...

Observations on essential tremor.

Essential tremor, which is also known as familial tremor or, when it appears for the first time in old age, as senile tremor, has attracted interest out of proportion to its incidence or importance as a cause of disability. Critchley, surveying the subject in 1949, was able to provide over 100 references to the literature. This interest stems from the unusual features of the condition. It is no...

The effect of ageing upon physiological tremor.

It is a matter of common observation that the standard of motor performance declines with advancing years. There are several factors which may be associated with this. The conduction velocity in human peripheral motor nerve fibres has been shown to decrease by about 15% between the third and ninth decades (Wagman and Lesse, 1952; Norris, Stock, and Wagman, 1953). On the sensory side, the percep...

JN-01218-2004.R1 - Aging and Tremor Regularity Effects of Aging on the Regularity of Physiological Tremor

The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effects of healthy aging on the regularity of physiological tremor under rest and postural conditions. Additionally, we examined the contribution of mechanical reflex factors to age related changes in postural physiological tremor. Tremor regularity, tremor-EMG coherence, tremor amplitude, and tremor modal frequency were calculated for four...
